The model of the inner retinal circuit including bipolar cells, AII amacrine cells, and ganglion cells. Those cells are connected by gap junctions, conventional synapses, and ribbon synapses that are newly proposed. Retinal activity in WT, rd1, mGluR6KO, and TrpM1KO retinae can be regenerated by changing the conditions.
Experimental motivation: mGluR6 and TrpM1 are responsible for signal transmission in the retinal ON pathway. However, TrpM1KO retina exhibits spontaneous oscillation observed in rd1 mouse retina whereas mGluR6KO retina does not. To understand difference between two different retinae is the research objective.
